Henry W. Fromme imported a prize winning percheron stallion from France with the name of "Bouquet", meaning "crowning piece".
This stallion had the largest and heaviest built stall in the barn. When you enter the barn, his stall is the first stall on the left. |
"Fourteen Horse stalls ring the perimeter of the barn and were home to the Fromme farm's plow horses and wagon teams. There are no tie-holes in the mangers for halters, because the draft animals were so well-trained they knew which stall was theirs and automatically sauntered into the right space when a days work was done." "Hay was kicked down from the loft above, and the circular alleyway inside was big enough to allow a grain wagon to be pulled through the big doors on the east side, around to the stalls, and back out." quoting Henry W. Fromme (grandson of builder) in 1-15-1987 Wichita Eagle, written by Mike Berry |
